Project Co-ordinator - Diabetes Voices Scotland Project (FTC)

Diabetes UK Scotland is the leading charity that cares for connects with and campaigns for people living with diabetes.  We are committed to patient centred care and for people with diabetes to be able to manage the condition and enhance their quality of life.  The Diabetes Voices Scotland Project is a Scottish Government funded project aimed at supporting patient participation in Diabetes Managed Care Networks. The programme trains patient representatives in their roles and provides them with support and guidance.

We need an experienced and creative Project Co-ordinator to take this work forward. The Project Co-ordinator will   deliver Diabetes Voices training across 14 Health Boards in Scotland, review and refine  training materials to ensure they are sensitive to the needs of participants, have an understanding of differing learning styles and  the ability to create a  positive  learning environment to ensure participants develop the skills and knowledge to  actively participate within local NHS structures.

The Project Co-ordinator with be the first point of contact for the project, communicate with key stakeholders of the project, be responsible for the project planning and will report to the Patient and Health Care Professional Engagement Manager

Better Health Better Care and the NHS Quality Strategy underpin the central ideas of a ‘mutual’ NHS, partnership between patients and NHS staff and patient participation in NHS decision making processes.  The NHS Quality Strategy further sets out the Scottish Government’s intention to strengthen the role of Managed Care Networks to support and deliver high quality healthcare, and asks that each MCN has a clear strategy for involving those for whom services are provided and their carers, as well as voluntary sector representatives.

You must have experience in developing, managing and delivering community based training programmes, communicating with a wide range of stakeholders, and working to tight deadlines.  You will be able to manage competing priorities, be competent with IT applications and be comfortable presenting to a range of stakeholders.

You must possess a full driving licence.

The post involves occasional weekend and evening work and is offered as a full time fixed term post.  Secondments will be considered.
