Our research

We are one of the largest funders of diabetes research in the UK. We support pioneering research into cause and prevention, improving care and treatment, and working towards finding a cure.

Our research portfolio is currently valued at £25 million over five years and covers around 125 research projects on all types of diabetes. In 2012 we made 45 new research awards including two research fellowships and 12 new PhD studentships.

We support a range of research funding schemes such as project grants, funding to purchase lab equipment, and research training opportunities, including PhD studentships and research fellowships aimed at clinicians and scientists.
