This year the programme is not organised by tracks - to encourage diabetes healthcare professionals to consider attending not only sessions that are directly related to their medical field, but others which are not directly directed but will help and shape his/her practice and research in new and innovative way.

Main features of the conference

  • Diabetes UK Opening symposium on the theme of the conference, 'The changing face of diabetes', introducing the new developments in research and clinical practice for the future, as well as celebrating the 75th anniversary of Diabetes UK.
  • Named lectures: Professionals are invited as speakers for highly respected and prestigious awards.
  • Built-in and oral sessions: Invited speakers and oral abstract presenters give talks related to basic science, clinical science, education, clinical care management, healthcare delivery, psychological care.
  • Panels and debates.
  • Awards: Abstract presenters are selected to receive special awards and present their work.
  • Meet the professor session: A stimulating session where the audience have the chance to interact with a prominent speaker.

This year's new features

The conference organising committee constantly strive to keep the programme dynamic and relevant to healthcare professionals working in the field of diabetes.

This year, exciting new features will be included in the conference programme:

  • Bariatric surgery plenary session
  • Late breaking abstracts session: the topics of this session reflect the latest updates on research on diabetes.
  • Speed data presentations: very concise presentations of abstracts by their author, to be further discussed during the poster sessions.
  • Poster sessions: poster sessions previously held during lunchtime will have their own dedicated slots, which will enhance their impact.
  • Closing plenary session on 'How low to go', covering blood sugar level, blood pressure and lipids.

Important note

Please note that this year, the conference will finish on Friday at 15.20hrs. Make sure you book your travel accordingly in order not to miss our afternoon programme, in particular hot topics and the closing plenary session.
