The Rank Prize Funds were set up in 1972 in order to foster Lord Rank's interests in the area of science in human and animal nutrition (because of his flour milling/ bread business) and in opto-electronics (because of his films/ cinema involvement).
The Rank Lecture, which was first seen on the APC programme in 2007 as a one-off award, is specifically focussed on nutrition, and the elected lecturer is also awarded a £500 honorarium and up to £500 in travel costs.
A decision was taken in 2010 to make the Rank Nutrition Lecture a regular, ongoing part of the APC programme.
The deadline for all applications for the 2011 Annual Professional Conference is 2 July 2010.
