Carol Bailey
Carol Bailey and her sister wrote to people in their village to see if they could help with a Care For A Cuppa party and got a fantastic response. Carol put posters in local schools, nurseries and playgroups and also handed out flyers for children's book bags. She also had prizes donated from local shops, pubs and businesses. The prizes ranged from cinema tickets and hair cuts to meals in pubs and restaurants.

The party was held on 25 June in Carol's garden. From 9.00am they served drinks and cakes, and ran a competitions for both children and adults. The competitions included 'Name the Teddy', 'How Many Smarties in a Jar', 'Name the Doll' and a lucky dip. There were also a children's tombola, a table-top sale and face painting.

Carol and her helpers had a break between 3.00pm and 6.00pm, before the party resumed with cheese and wine and a tombola and grand draw.
With approximately 200 people through her door, Carol managed to raise £1,102.42. Carol said that is was "a long and tiring day, but well worth it. I could not have done it alone, though, but thankfully I had a lot of helpers: we are now working towards ideas for next year!"
Jennifer Meredith – held a vintage tea party
Jennifer, aged 11, was diagonosed with Type 1 diabetes before Christmas last year. She wanted to raise some money for Diabetes UK and was pleased to be able to hold a tea party at home on the family farm.
Jennifer used vintage tea cups, cake stands and bunting from her mum's vintage hire business. She raised extra money with a 'guess the name of the pig' competition, a hook a duck game &ndash' which was great fun in the rain – and a card stall. She invited neighbours and friends and over 70 people came. Jennifer was thrilled to raise £512.35.

Gemma – perseverence brings prizes
Hello my name is Gemma I am 17 and have Type 1 diabetes. I organised a Care for a Cuppa event on 15 May between 10am and 12pm. I sold tea, coffee and cakes - including some delicious low sugar flapjacks and sugar free carrot cakes.
I also had a raffle, guess the weight of the cake (2lb 10oz), guess how many tea bags are in the teapot (82) and a bric-a-brac stall. The event was a great success and I managed to raise £284.
I recommend to other fundraisers to keep persevering with requesting raffle prizes from companies. I had quite a few responses from supermarkets and many more.
Gemma sent us some great photos from her tea party which help to show how she made her tea party a success.

Colin Broadbent – my effort to do something
Colin has sent us sent us some lovely photos from the Care for a Cuppa party he organised. The event raised £400 in total.

This event was organised by my friends to support my insulin dependent condition, and because at the age of 75 years, I am unable to run or walk marathons, nor do I have a dog to walk in 'Dogalongs', this was my effort to do something.
Finally may I thank your promotional staff who kindly supplied poster blanks, invitation blanks, streamers and balloons. They certainly made the event more successful.
