Diabetes UK Professional Conference dinner and Northern Soul night
Diabetes UK invites you to experience the vibrancy and excitement of Northern Soul in the spectacular surroundings of Manchester Town Hall on Thursday 14 March 2013.
Northern Soul exploded in the 1960s in north-west England with DJs spinning fast-paced, rare soul and Motown in the infamous clubs around the area. The first club dedicated to this movement – The Twisted Wheel – opened its doors in Manchester in 1965.
Your Northern Soul evening starts with welcome drinks in the impressive Bees Area before moving into the splendour of the Great Hall for a three-course meal.
Music will be provided by the excellent Soul Disciples – an eight-piece band with brass section giving an authentic sound and feel to take you right back into the era. In fact, we encourage delegates to dress as close to the style as possible!

When does it start and finish?
Drinks reception begins at 7.30pm. Please note, the town hall is only 7 minutes' walk from Manchester Central and close to many city-centre hotels so no shuttle service will be provided. The evening is intended to finish no later than midnight.
What is the dress code?
60s/70s Northern Soul – think mods, blazers and shift dresses – or evening wear.
Is there a seating plan?
There is not a seating plan, however tables for 8-10 people can be booked in advance if attending as a group. If you book 10 tickets in one transaction, we will reserve a table and the tenth ticket will be free.
How much are the tickets and what does the price include?
Tickets prices are £54 per person. The price includes a drinks reception, three course meal, half a bottle of wine and fantastic entertainment.
