About Liverpool
Welcome to Liverpool! This diverse, vibrant and laid-back city has the ability to make anyone feel instantly at home with its modern tourist attractions and youthful vibe.
Liverpool for music
Two words: The Beatles. Follow in the footsteps of the city’s most famous sons at The Beatles Story attraction, join a Magical Mystery Tour or check out the Cavern Club to see where it all began. Today, the waterfront Echo Arena hosts all the big-name international acts, and classical music is well represented by the world-renowned Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. For party people, Liverpool’s live music and nightclub scene is legendary.
Liverpool for culture
The city has a proud array of cultural treasures. National Museums Liverpool has seven venues, including the new Museum of Liverpool. Liverpool is home to two cathedrals, the magnificent neo-classical St George’s Hall, Tate Liverpool, the Everyman and Playhouse theatres and the stunning Central Library, which has recently undergone a £50 million renovation. It’s easy to see why Liverpool is a hub for arts and heritage lovers.
Liverpool for shopping
Liverpudlians take shopping and style very seriously. The world-class Liverpool ONE complex at the heart of the city boasts more than 160 famous names including the only Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar in the country. Designer label lovers should head to Metquarter or Cavern Walks, which features Vivienne Westwood alongside other household names. And if you want unique and quirky, there’s plenty of independent boutiques, vintage shops and street markets.
Liverpool for sport
Liverpool is sport-mad. With two of the Premiership’s biggest and best-supported football clubs, Liverpool FC and Everton FC, and the grounds just a mile apart, it’s no wonder Red and Blue supporters enjoy a friendly rivalry. You can even go behind the scenes with a tour of Anfield, home of Liverpool FC. Liverpool City Region incorporates England’s Golf Coast, a fine stretch of 11 championship golf courses, and Aintree Racecourse is host to the world-famous Grand National.
Liverpool for food & drink
Liverpool has just about every kind of restaurant, from sleek fine dining to independent, bohemian cafes and bistros. Try Hope Street for some of the city’s best restaurants, or the Albert Dock for fun and funky bars. Many of the city’s eateries use locally-sourced produce – Wirral fruit and vegetables, Southport seafood, Knowsley lamb and regional cheeses, beers and ice cream.
