Why Diabetes UK?
Did you know that one person is diagnosed with diabetes every three minutes and three people die from its complications every hour? Diabetes is serious.
Help us raise vital funds by running for us in this event. Sponsorship money will go towards research to help find a cure for diabetes and to provide care and support services to those living with the condition, their families, friends and carers. Every little bit helps.
As well as raising money, you will also help to raise awareness of this condition.

Start/Finish
York University will welcome The Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon as part of its 50th year celebrations, hosting the race village as well as the race’s start and finish. The Heslington Campus boasts a range of modern facilities, alongside historic 16th Century buildings, and will be the perfect host for the event hub.
The route
A truly Yorkshire Marathon, showcasing the very best of the City of York; you'll enter the city walls through Walmgate Bar and enjoy the bustling atmosphere along Parliament Street before passing through St. Helen's Square. Immerse yourself in impressive architecture such as The Mansion House and the famous Betty's tea rooms before catching your first glimpse of York Minster. You'll leave the city walls via the ornate Monk Bar and can speed on through mile upon mile of flat landscape around the Vale of York and the pretty villages and towns of North and the East Riding of Yorkshire.
