This event is in its 2nd year and is part of the Virgin Money Cyclone Cycling Festival. There are two fantastic distances to choose from - 9.5km or 14.5km.

So why not join in and raise money for Diabetes UK. Registration is through the website and all you need to do is to choose Diabetes UK from the drop down menu when asked which charity you would like to ride for. Once you have registered with the event organisers we will send you your sponsorship pack or download the relevant documents from those listed on the right of this page.
Route
There are 2 routes - 9.5km and 14.5km open to all, although Children under 14 must be accompanied by an Adult (one adult may accomany a nunmber of children).
Starting at the Cycle Hub, Ouseburn participants will ride out west along Sustrans Route 72 passing under the Tyne Bridge, Swing Bridge, High Level Bridge, Redheugh Bridge and on towards Scotswood Bridge following the banks of the Tyne. Along the way riders will be able to see some of the Tyne's industrial heritage and some famous landmarks such as Dunston Staiths and Vickers Armsrong Armaments Factory which was originally built by Lord Armstrong and at one time had a workforce of 30,000.
Both routes will have additional signs as well as marshals to direct riders at critical points
Riders can choose which ride they will complete on the day and will start in groups from 6.30pm. All riders must complete their chosen ride by 9pm.

Entry fee is £6 for all ages

We are looking for keen and enthusiastic individuals and groups to cheer our riders on along the route and welcome them back at the finish line.
