Former Tottenham Hotspur and England footballer Gary Mabbutt MBE, has Type 1 diabetes and has become an icon for many children and young adults with the condition.

Gary is Honorary Vice President of the charity and supports Diabetes UK activities and initiatives. Gary’s support helps us raise vital awareness and funds from activities like the Santa Dash and national campaigns like Diabetes Week.

As someone with Type 1 diabetes, I know just how much of an impact the condition can have on someone’s life. Diabetes causes more deaths than breast and prostate cancer combined and is increasing at an alarming rate. All funds raised for Diabetes UK will help improve the lives of people with the condition.
