Food and Wine Pairing 2005

Antony Worrall Thompson and Douglas SmallwoodAntony Worrall Thompson helped raise £20,000 for Diabetes UK by hosting a food and wine pairing event at the Courthouse Hotel, London, on 13 October 2005. Guests enjoyed a three-course meal of Tuscan tomato and bread soup, baked cod with herbs and spring onion and a mango fool to round off.

All the dishes were chosen and cooked in front of the audience by the celebrity chef (pictured here on the left with Douglas Smallwood, Chief Executive of Diabetes UK).

Wine expert Natasha Hughes paired a range of French wines to each of the courses, giving the guests a chance to learn more about matching wine and food.

"We are delighted and very grateful that so many people turned out to help raise money for Diabetes UK," said Dawn Jackson, Director of Membership and Marketing at Diabetes UK. "Of course, it is easier to get people to be generous when you can tempt them with the finest food and wine."

During the lively evening there was also a chance to win superb prizes, including a day's sailing for six aboard an ocean racing yacht courtesy of Pindar Graphics, during an after-dinner wine challenge.
