Today 3 million people have diabetes and up to 850,000 people are living their lives unaware that they have Type 2 diabetes. Diabetes is not often seen as a serious condition but the complications of heart attacks, amputation, kidney failure, strokes and blindness say otherwise. 26,000 people die as a result of diabetes every year, that’s 72 per day or three an hour.
