Diabetes Week: Be part of the story. 9-15 June 2013

How your money helps

However you decide to support us, one thing is for sure – you’re doing an amazing job.

  • £12 could cover the cost of a kit that ensures the reliable collection, stabilisation and transportation of DNA taken from saliva.
  • £25 could pay for a kit that uses antibodies to accurately measure the amount of insulin in a sample of blood.
  • £50 could help to fund research into ways of preventing diabetes-related complications.
  • £170 could pay for one of the most important pieces of equipment used everyday in research – a pipette. It allows precise amounts of liquid or solution to be transferred with great accuracy.

  • £370 could pay for a vortex mixing machine that enables laboratory samples to be shaken and blended together.
  • £500 could pay for a year’s supply of laboratory glassware.
  • £1,000 could fund research to improve the lives of people with diabetes. This would allow you to choose a project from our broad portfolio and adopt it for a year.
  • £1,350 could cover the cost of a state-of-the-art microscope to allow research samples to be analysed in great detail.
