Tribute funds

Making a donation in memory

Following demand from our supporters, Diabetes UK have developed ‘Tribute Funds’ as a way of honouring the life of a loved one - both today and in the future.

A tribute fund can be set up in the name of a loved one and contributions to the fund can be raised in a range of different ways. Friends, family and colleagues can raise money through sponsored events, for example, or could make an annual donation on the birthday of their loved one. Like many others, Peter Wood from Surrey (pictured below) decided to set up a tribute fund in honour of his wife Gillian.

Peter Wood and wife Gillian“Diagnosed at the age of three with diabetes, Gillian lived a full and rewarding life for a further 71 years, to the astonishment of medical and lay people alike. This is a tribute to her courage and determination to overcome her disadvantage and give support and help fund research provided by Diabetes UK that made her long life possible.”

Every contribution made to a loved one’s fund will help Diabetes UK work to improve the care and support available to people living with diabetes today. It will also help fund vital research projects to find the cure for diabetes we are all hoping for.

If you have lost a loved one and are interested in establishing a fund in their honour, please telephone James Sargeant on 020 7424 1000 or
