Are you energetic and enthusiastic?
Do you love meeting new people?
Becoming an events volunteer is an exciting way to volunteer with Diabetes UK, and will give you the opportunity to help raise awareness of the seriousness of diabetes.
Events volunteers help out at the events and roadshows that we attend all across the UK. We attend a huge number of different events each year to raise awareness of diabetes and the work that we do at Diabetes UK.
This year we are going to have stands at more events than ever before; we need your help.
As an events volunteer you will be working with Diabetes UK staff, talking to members of the public and handing out information about diabetes. The events range from stands in shopping centres and high streets to big events such as melas and county shows.
You don't need any previous experience or knowledge about diabetes or Diabetes UK, we will give you the information and support you need. We will pay travel and meal expenses for each event you attend.
It is a great way to get out and meet people, raise awareness of diabetes and attend some fantastic events.
How to get involved
- Read the role description and download an application form and return it to the Volunteer Development team. You can download the role description and application form from the Related Information section in the right-hand column of this page.
- We will then send you information about the briefing to find out more about diabetes and Diabetes UK. You will be able to do the briefing either by attending one of our briefing sessions in person or by complete the briefing pack.
- Once you have completed the briefing you will be added to the Events Volunteer database, and will be sent details of upcoming events that need volunteers. You choose which events you help out at, which makes this a really flexible way to volunteer with us.
- If you volunteer for an event which involves taking responsibility for unaccompanied children or vulnerable adults (i.e parents/carers are not present for all, or part of, an event) then you will be required to carry out a free criminal records check through Diabetes UK, details of which will be sent to you at the time.
If you have any questions about the Diabetes UK events volunteer scheme, contact the Volunteer Development team on 020 7424 1000, or email volunteering@diabetes.org.uk.
