Discovery Travel are offering the fantasitc opportunity of participating in the C2C Whitehaven to Sunderland.

From Whitehaven you will cross the North Lakes, the North Pennines, the industrial heritage of County Durham, finishing on the North Sea Coast at Sunderland.

This is a demanding cycle route.

Cost: £220 (£240 including bike hire).

Dave Sprinks and his team mates, Keith Jackson, Dave Tavernor, and TBA later have entered the Ramshackle Rally challenge from Calais - Krakow in just 4 days covering some 1500 miles in a car that they were only allowed to purchase for a maximum price of £150.

Their team name is Prime Porkers (and in Dave's words "coz we are a bit older").

The Ben Nevis Challenge

Self funding option: Deposit (£75) + trip cost (£180) + minimum sponsorship (no minimum)
Minimum sponsorship option (2010 trips): Deposit (£75) + minimum sponsorship (£550)

At 4406 feet (1343 metres) Ben Nevis is Britain's highest peak and this challenge will take you right to the top!

You will spend the weekend with a group of like minded people who are raising funds for a variety of charities.

The dates of the trips are:

  • 17 to 19 September 2010
  • 27 to 29 May 2011
  • 9 to 11 September 2011

The trip includes your qualified trek guide and accommodation for the duration of your stay.

You will need to make your own way to Glasgow train station or airport where you will be collected and taken to Fort William by mini bus.

This is a one day UK cycle event starting in Swindon on the 18th September. There is a choice of 3 distances, 30km, 50km and 100km and ranges from road routes to challenging cross country routes through scenic countryside.

We are looking for participants to join teams of six who will swim relay across The English Channel raising vital funds for Diabetes UK.
