How do I go about fundraising?

First of all, thank you for deciding to support Diabetes UK.

It is easier (and probably more fun) to work with a group of people rather than on your own. Pooling experiences and sharing responsibilities in a team allows you to use individual strengths and skills for the benefit of everyone.

Many fundraising ideas can come to you in a flash or sometimes it can take a little more thought. Don't feel restricted in terms of doing the 'normal' or more 'traditional' events. However, do keep in mind that the simplest ideas are often the best.

Once you've established your idea, talk it over with others; an outside eye looking in can often see problems or concerns you may have overlooked in the excitement – e.g. is your event coinciding with the local cup final? If you wish, you could contact your Regional Fundraiser who may be able to offer some helpful advice or contacts.

Do remember, though, that one of the most important points in fundraising is that it should be FUN!

Your next step, then, is organising your event ...
