About the Team

Diabetes UK are Bupa’s nominated charity for the 2013 Bupa Great Run Series- a partnership we are very excited about. The Bupa team collectively work on 11 Bupa running events, recruiting runners and supporting them with their training and fundraising enabling the organisation to raise income through participant sponsorship.

The Bupa team continually work towards creating a superb and emotive supporter journey and the role of the volunteer is imperative in achieving this goal.

 

Main elements of volunteer role:

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic individual to assist our team with the following: 

  • Contacting our  runners to confirm support  for 2013 events and offer assistance with fundraising 
  • Creating and sending fundraising packs
  • Assist with pre-event preparations to ensure the smooth running of the event 
  • Stock management 
  • Update supporter records on our internal database 
  • Thanking runners for their support 
  • Offering additional support to the Bupa Events Assistant during busy periods 

Timescales (e.g. hours, day or length of volunteering role)

2 days a week until November 2013. Days of the week are negotiable. Flexibility will be required during busy event periods.

What we are looking for:

  • Someone who is keen to gain experience within the charity events sector 
  • Excellent customer care skills with an exceptional yet friendly telephone manner 
  • Confident with using MS Office programmes including Excel, Word and Outlook 
  • Confident working within a team as well as great at using their own initiative. 
  • Wiling to support the team with ad hoc tasks particularly during busy periods of the event season. Tasks may range from sending out fundraising materials through to sending emails to our supporters 
  • Knowledge of a fundraising database is desirable but not essential as we will offer training
