Development Team office Volunteer

Main elements of volunteer role:

The volunteer role would predominately be assisting with the Diabetes Awareness Training programme.  Each course requires a certain amount of organising and planning beforehand and a volunteer would be invaluable in helping us with this.

The main duties are:

  • Emailing booking forms to prospective delegates
  • Collating pre course questionnaires and inputting the answers onto an Excel Spreadsheet
  • Packing of the training crates  and liaising with the facilities  department to arrange couriers
  • Promoting the training and other work that the Development Team are involved in using mail merges and email

This role is an opportunity to work within an exciting and ever growing charity and within a very friendly team. We would work with the individuals to see what your interests are to see if you can be involved in any other aspects of the projects. For example we could provide an opportunity for relationship building with healthcare professionals and corporate partners. It will give you good office and team work skills, and give you an opportunity to build on organisational and time management skills.

There is also an opportunity to attend the teams Diabetes Workplace Awareness events – where we visit offices and other workplaces to raise awareness of type 2 diabetes and how it  can be prevented; or to attend our Healthy Lifestyle Road Shows - where we encourage members of the public to see what their risk of developing type 2 diabetes is and to promote the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle. This will give an insight into the valuable work that Diabetes UK does and the impact the charity can have on people’s lives. 

Timescales

The role is for an initial period of 3 months; however can be extended on negotiation at the end of this time.

We hope that you will be able to volunteer for:

1-2 days per week Monday – Thursday - this can be negotiated to suit individual needs.

Additional hours could be negotiated on an ad hoc basis by agreement with both parties and are available if requested.  

What we are looking for:

 Someone able to commit to the agreed hours and provide reliable support 

  • Good organisational skills
  • Computer literate with experience of using Outlook and Excel  
  • Someone with an enthusiastic attitude and who has an ability to self motivate and multi task
