National Events And Fundraising Volunteer

Main elements of volunteer role:

  • To assist with mailings to supporters by stuffing and sealing envelopes with letters and flyers. (1 or 2 days)
  • To assist with the processing of new collection box requests and be responsible for ordering new boxes to send to supporters. ( 1 or 2 days)
  • To help with the sorting of the old jewellery sent in by supporters – be responsible for sourcing an appropriate place to send the jewellery in exchange for money to go directly to Diabetes UK. Also organise and assist with holding an internal sale of old jewellery to staff members. (1 or 2 days) 
  • To help with the processing of gift aid – identifying using guidelines donations on sponsorship forms eligible to claim gift aid, recording these and adding up the totals on each sheet. (1 or 2 days)
  •  To occasionally contact existing enquirers via telephone to determine their interest in a particular fundraising event. (1 or 2 days)
  • Putting together fundraising packs to send to supporters. (1/2 a day)
  • Researching information online to support fundraising activity eg. companies to approach for sponsorship. (1/2 a day)
  • Creating and updating spreadsheets. (1/2 -1 day)
  • Other ad-hoc office tasks – photocopying, laminating, gathering materials together for events. 

 

Timescales (e.g. hours, day or length of volunteering role)

We hope that you will be able to volunteer for: 

  •  1-2 days - flexible - this can be negotiated to suit the situation.
  •   This is an ad-hoc role, for tasks as and when needed. 


What we are looking for 

  • Someone able to commit to the agreed hours and provide reliable support
  •  Good organisational and communication skills.
  •  Good attention to detail.
  •  IT Skills, including MS Office, email and internet.
