What are Local Diabetes Services Advisory Groups (LDSAGs)?

Local Diabetes Advisory Groups (LDSAGs) are your chance to help shape local diabetes services.

Each of the four Health and Social services Boards (HSSBs) across Northern Ireland has LDSAGs.

Such groups involve healthcare professionals, managers, people with diabetes and their families/carers, and sometimes Diabetes UK staff.

The purpose of LDSAGs in Northern Ireland includes to:

  • Advise on the implementation of the joint CREST / Diabetes UK Report on diabetes recommendations within each Health Board area.
  • Advise upon and monitor the ongoing local health care and social services for people with diabetes .
  • Make recommendations and to advise on both clinical and administrative improvements within the local area.
  • Identify shortfalls in the provision of local diabetes services.
