Help for existing groups

Thank you

If you run a voluntary group, we hope you know that your hard work is really appreciated by all the people you help. Voluntary groups are at the heart of Diabetes UK and without the support of these groups Diabetes UK could not carry out its vital work in research, support and care. Diabetes UK is here to support you in return.

How Diabetes UK can help voluntary groups

To help your activities and keep you up-to-date with all the latest about diabetes and Diabetes UK, we provide training, publications and an annual conference for all our volunteers.

As a Diabetes UK voluntary group, there are a number of resources and opportunities available to you:

  • A chance to attend our annual Volunteering conference.
  • Insurance cover from Diabetes UK public liability insurance.
  • Access to magazines, books and leaflets, including some discounts.
  • Our free quarterly newsletter for volunteers, Get involved.
  • Free mailings to Diabetes UK members in your area.
  • Talks at group meetings by Diabetes UK staff.

Training days and events

To help you get more out of your volunteering, Diabetes UK has put together a training and events programme for all volunteers across the UK. Whether you are involved in running a voluntary group, a local campaigner or user representative or if you are new to volunteering, there is something here for you.

All events will offer opportunities for networking and learning from each other and sharing experiences of making a difference to people with diabetes through volunteering.
