Involve Issue 1 March 2012

Welcome

Welcome to the first edition of Involve, Diabetes UK’s newsletter for volunteers.

We have started Involve to keep you up to date with everything that is happening at Diabetes UK and for you to hear about the great work that other volunteers are doing. Each edition includes news and stories from your nation or region so you can find out more about what is happening in your local area. There will be also be news from our Policy and Research teams so that you are up to date on our current work.

In this issue, we feature our new Peer Support scheme, which was launched earlier this year, and provides a new way for people living with diabetes to talk to someone who understands. We find out how volunteers have been using the 15 Healthcare Essentials checklist to make sure that everyone with diabetes is receiving the care they need, and we go behind the scenes of our Roadshow project to find out how we get our vans on the road.

This is your newsletter and we want to hear from you! If you have a question to ask, a story to tell or a picture to share, please send them to the Diabetes UK Volunteer Development Team.

Happy reading!

Helen Johnston
