Raise awareness

Events volunteers

Are you energetic and enthusiastic? Are you looking for a flexible and fun way to volunteer? If so, then helping out at Diabetes UK events might be for you. We need help at events all over the country, so if you have some time to spare, this could be the role for you.

Speaker scheme

Our speaker scheme volunteers are a network of volunteer speakers trained and supported by Diabetes UK. Their role is to raise awareness about diabetes and the work of Diabetes UK to groups in their local area. If you are looking for a flexible way to volunteer and would like to develop your own skills and knowledge about diabetes, then the speaker scheme might be for you.

Support people living with diabetes

Diabetes UK Voluntary Groups

Diabetes UK voluntary groups are support groups that offer people living with diabetes a chance to meet and share experiences with others. They are all run by volunteers and typically meet on a monthly basis, often with a speaker on a topic such as diet or exercise.

As well as providing support and information, voluntary groups also get involved in fundraising, campaigning to improve local diabetes services, planning social events and outings and running awareness-raising activities. You could take on an active role by joining the committee or help out at on an occasional basis at events, outings and publicity.

Support events

A Diabetes UK support holiday is packed with fun activities and adventure. It also offers a unique opportunity to be among people who understand. For many, it is the first step to managing their own diabetes.

Developing a positive attitude and establishing self-confidence in the management of diabetes is a key objective of the holidays.

The success of Diabetes UK’s holidays and weekends owes a lot to the staff who have offered their skills, time and expertise voluntarily over the years. If you have diabetes or an interest in diabetes, and believe you have the right skills and expertise that can be used on our events, we encourage you to apply.

Office Volunteers

We often need office volunteers at our central office, based in Camden Town, London, or at any of our regional offices. There are lots of areas within the organisation that could benefit from your time and experience. Volunteers are currently involved in organising events, providing admin support, researching and gathering information, and supporting our Careline team.
