Helping independent older people

Helping independent older people

For those older people with diabetes who are responsible for preparing their own meals, efforts should be made to enable them to do so with ease and efficiency.

Points to consider:

  • Up-to-date nutritional education
  • Well maintained appliances and kitchen equipment, including electric can and jar openers and microwaves
  • Adequate storage space
  •  Help with shopping if needed
  • Access to regular dental check-ups
