Fasting and diabetes

MoonThe Koran mandates fasting during the month of Ramadan from sunrise to sunset. However people with diabetes do not have to fast during Ramadan (speak to your Imam about this).

Many people still wish to fast. Information in this section helps you to manage your diabetes safely, whilst fasting during this holy time as well as informing you about the possible dangers of fasting and diabetes.

Ramadan calendars

As part of our Measure Up campaign this year, we have produced Ramadan calendars with messages about diabetes and fasting. These were sent out to Mosques and Muslim organisations throughout the UK. However, we do have a few copies left - if you would like one please email your name and address to: diabeteslifestyle@diabetes.org.uk.
