Disability Discrimination Act

Checklist

Are you being discriminated against?

If you are in any doubt whether you have been discriminated against, the Disability Rights Commission recommend the five-step approach that is useful to use as a checklist:

Step 1: Does the service user meet the Act’s definition of disability?

Step 2: Is the service covered by the Act?

Step 3: Has the user been given less-favourable treatment?

Step 4: Can the service justify the treatment?

Step 5: Resolving the problem.
