Disability Living Allowance (DLA)

Other benefits

If a person is awarded higher or middle rate DLA, the person who cares for them may also qualify for Carer’s Allowance. Although this is not a means tested benefit, the person claiming it, must earn below a set amount to qualify.

Carer’s allowance is taxable income and most people in receipt will be credited with National Insurance contributions.

For further information visit www.direct.gov.uk or call the Benefits Enquiry Line.
