Diabetes and pregnancy
These are the experiences of people who have had to manage diabetes during pregnancy.
We hope they give you some insight and inspiration, and we'd be delighted to hear from you about the subject - whether from a female or a male perspective.
Send us your story
We would like parents, families and carers to share their stories. We are keen to have a range of experiences and would especially like to hear from anyone affected by gestational diabetes.
Please use the form under 'Related information' to submit your story, or you can call the Press team at Diabetes UK on 020 7424 1000.
"This was one of the best and hardest things I have ever done. It took a whole nine months of careful planning, tight blood glucose control, and finding the right support for me."
"I didn't know I had diabetes and was only diagnosed after three miscarriages and being told by my GP that I was just 'unlucky'."
Pregnancy was an emotional rollercoaster, but I had tremendous support from family, friends and my diabetes specialist team. Life could not be better now. I am blessed with a beautiful, healthy family whom I love with all my heart.
I am glad that I braved pregnancy with diabetes, but I am also glad that I will never have to go through it again! I have two children: a daughter aged 14 and a son aged 8.
