How to feel happier

Talk to someone

If you’re feeling really down about your diabetes, there are loads of people you can talk to.

There’s always Mum and Dad, and maybe a special grandparent, uncle or aunty. You can talk to your nurse as well – she’s not just for Mum and Dad.

There are also people called psychologists who are really good at helping you cope with your diabetes – they might be at your clinic, but if not, your nurse can contact a psychologist for you. Your nurse might also be able to put you in touch with somebody your age who has diabetes as well, and you can chat about what helps them.

Get in touch

Have you tried our problem page? Your question might already be there, complete with an answer from our experts. And if it's not already there, you can simply email us and we will give you an answer.

Have fun with other kids with diabetes

Another way to meet children your age with diabetes is to try one of the Diabetes UK holidays, so ask your Mum or Dad to get some details and see if you could come along.

We also have family groups, where you can meet other young people with diabetes and help support each other.
