My friends like to know all about my diabetes. Why not show your friends this site and let them learn all about how diabetes affects our bodies.

Telling your friends

It might feel a bit scary to tell your friends about your diabetes, and you might be frightened that they won’t want to be your friend anymore. But this is really unlikely, and diabetes is nothing to be ashamed of or to hide.

Friends can help

They will soon realise that nothing else has changed about you – you’re still the same person.

Friends can be great at helping you to look after your diabetes as well.

Beat the bullies

And don’t let anyone bully you about your diabetes – bullies can pick on people who they think are different.

Talk to Mum or Dad and your teacher if you’re getting picked on because of your diabetes.

Some people like their teacher to talk to the class about their diabetes, and being up front about it can mean that the bullies soon realise that there isn’t anything to tease you about. Talk to your teacher if you think that would be a good idea.

"This boy at my school says, "Ha ha, you have diabetes." So I say to him, "Well it makes me who I am so deal with it" lol :)" - Hollie

Joke of the Day

Why aren't you doing very well in history?

Because the teacher keeps asking about things that happened before I was born!
