What happens next when you have diabetes?
Because the body can't use the glucose for energy, you won’t feel very energetic – in fact you won’t feel like doing much at all.
The body starts to break down stores of fat and protein for energy. This can cause some people to lose a lot of weight before they are diagnosed.
The unused glucose ends up passing into the urine and this can make people very thirsty or go to the loo a lot before they are diagnosed.
