Feet

Looking after your feet

  • Don’t expose your feet to extremes of heat or cold.
  • Make sure you wear shoes and socks that are not too tight.
  • Check your feet daily (see Danger signs to look out for).
  • Wash your feet every day with ordinary soap and warm water.  Dry them carefully – especially between the toes.
  • For dry skin use a moisturising cream but never use between your toes.
  • Cut your toenails to the shape of the end of your toes about once in every six to eight weeks.
  • Always wear footwear – even at home.  It can be possible to damage your feet without knowing.
