'I feel much more confident now '

I have been a Type 1 diabetic for nearly 40 years and for the last  three have been using an insulin pump. It took a while to get used to removing air bubbles and trying to decide which part of the pump was failing to deliver my insulin, however I feel much more confident now and it has made such a difference.

I swim twice a week at my local health club so I am hoping that this should not be too difficult for me. I am very slow  and on one occasion at a very young age  I proudly won a bronze medal for coming third.  There were three in the race! My speed has not improved. I am however quite confident in the sea as I was brought up in Fowey, Cornwall where everyone swam in the sea!

I know that the editor of our local paper is also a pump user and I intend to see if I can get some publicity. He should be pleased with the choice of charity.

I adore Xmas pud and have a recipe without flour and sugar which is delicious. Just minced prunes, sultanas, nuts ground almonds spices, lemon zest, juice and brandy! I'm also going to try a chocolate cake made from courgettes.
