I'm 29 now and have a much better grip

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 11. When the dcotors first found out my blood sugar level was 25.
I spent two weeks on the childrens ward before finally being sent home. At first I found it difficult but pretty quickly established a comfortable routine.
When I reached my late teens and early 20s things were different. I was working in a bar and drinking quite heavily on a daily basis. I ignored my Diabetic specialist for years. Pretty soon I began collapsing on a regular basis.
On one occasion I collapsed in my local Woolworths and even more high profile once on a trip to Paris. These were both due to low blood sugars.
I'm 29 now and have a much better grip. However I have a massive fear of collapsing now. I test my sugar almost 20 times a day. I suffer panic attacks if I'm out alone even though I know my sugar is fine.
My fingers are covered with the pin prick marks from my blood test pen. It's very frustrating as i know their is nothing wrong, but I have this constant paranoia of collapsing again.
My family and fiance have been very supportive, but I would love to hear from fellow diabetics if they have suffered the same thing.
