'Some said it was the first they knew of such a group in their area'

On Wednesday 13 April, the North Devon Support Group held an awareness/collection day in the local B&Q store in Barnstaple.

Using for the first time their newly acquired display board to highlight the main issues surrounding diabetes self management and to promote the group meetings held regularly.

The response was excellent. Some said it was the first they knew of such a group in their area and that one of the main things people with diabetes seek is help and advice from those in the same position as themselves to supplement their NHS care.

Our year this year is aimed at promoting awareness across all age groups, however as we all know the younger group is very hard to reach at times.
