'My New Year's resolution this year was not to diet, but to change to a healthy lifestyle!'

My New Year's resolution this year was not to diet, but to change to a healthy lifestyle! I always worry about my diabetes.

I have been diagnosed for three years now and being young it has been a struggle from time to time, but I just thought this has to be the year everything changes!

Last year I was feeling very down and struggling to control my diabetes but I've realised now that I don't live with it, it lives with me and with a bit of hard work and determination I can be happy and healthy. It doesn't need to be difficult, it's simple really when you think about it.

I started talking to others like me on an online forum and reading about other people's stories really inspired me. There are people out there like me who have their ups and downs with diabetes, but I'm not alone. I have the knowledge and support I need to succeed.

I've started the gym and aqua-size once a week and also I'm looking in to joining Weight Watchers too. So far it's going really well I feel more motivated and happy. I have a lot of big events in my future, such as marrying my fianc,e and one day having children.

I want to get my health and diabetes in good control now to prevent complications in the future. I'm feeling extremely optimistic, 2013 will be my year!
