Family support weekends

Diabetes UK has been organising family support weekends for many years.

We are committed to providing families who have a child with diabetes with support, information and the opportunities to share experiences and to discuss both emotional and practical issues around living with diabetes. At the same time we offer safe and expert care for children when they are taking part in their own activities.

All weekends are held at comfortable hotels from Friday afternoon until Sunday lunch. Parents attend relaxed, supportive and informative discussion groups while their children (including siblings without diabetes) enjoy fun activities, trips out and educational sessions.

The weekends are run with a team of carefully selected volunteers who are healthcare professionals and/or have experience of diabetes or childcare. Very special rates are negotiated with the hotels to ensure that we get the best facilities at competitive prices for all our needs during our stay.
