Hugely rewarding
Volunteering on our Care Events is hugely rewarding and can give you invaluable experience of diabetes in children and young people. There are a variety of different volunteer roles and events run throughout the year.
The continuing success of the events owes itself to the volunteers who offer their time, effort and expertise to help these children and their families.
We provide you with clear guidelines, training and support. All volunteers are selected on the basis of an application, references and a criminal records check.
It is a humbling experience seeing how children deal with their diabetes, grow in confidence and master new skills. As an adult with Type 1 diabetes, watching a child that has recently been diagnosed take charge and deal with it is fantastic! I feel very privileged to have been a part of the process.
