After completing both days of the course, participants will receive a Royal College of Nursing certificate of 12 hours study. The course is also endorsed by the British Dietetic Association.
Course duration: two days
What are the aims?
- to give healthcare professionals the skills and resources they need to manage patients’ emotional and psychological wellbeing
- for participants to learn how to engage with the emotional content of a consultation
- to understand the patient’s condition in the context of their lives
- to increase awareness of the possible barriers to effective communication in consultations.
Who is the training for?
This course is suitable for any healthcare professional who engages with patients.
Why is this important?
In addition to physical symptoms, healthcare
professionals must often address the sensitive and personal issues of those in their care. This course will help provide healthcare professionals with the skills to do this. Staff from the Diabetes UK Careline will deliver the training. They are both counsellors and trainers who have a wealth of experience in engaging and supporting people with a long-term condition.
Where does the training take place?
Training sessions can be delivered in your workplace, or an alternative venue can be arranged. Please note, it is advised that the first and second day of the training course is taken one month apart to allow particpants to practise the techniques taught.
One of the best and most valuable training courses that I have attended.
A marvellous day with varied sessions and approaches, with plenty of scope for learning and putting things into practice.
