This is a chance to talk to someone who understands how worried you might feel about your first retinopathy tests. Someone who knows what it’s like to be a parent, juggling school, insulin and carb-counting as well as everything else that family life brings. A person who understands why you are feeling concerned about your next HbA1c result after struggling with a strict new diet.
Sometimes everyone needs to talk things over, and support can make the difference between a good day and an awful one.
You can contact a volunteer in one of the following ways:
Email
Each volunteer's profile contains their email address which you can write to at any time. At first this may be simply to introduce yourself, but before long you may find you're writing to each other like old friends.
The service has specific hours during which it is open (see below). Volunteers may be able to reply outside of these times but please bear in mind that the volunteer may not have been on duty to see your message.
Phone
You can speak to a volunteer during opening hours on 0843 353 8600*. When calling, you will be able to use your telephone keypad to select to speak to someone living with Type 1 or Type 2 or a parent of a child with diabetes.
| Opening hours |
| Sunday to Friday, 6pm to 9pm |
*Calls to 0843 numbers may be free depending on your phone package but will otherwise range from 1p to 5p per minute. Calls from mobiles vary significantly in cost so it's best to check with your provider.
