The role of Diabetes UK's regional offices is to influence healthcare provision and improve services for people with diabetes at a local level, together with raising awareness and funds for diabetes and Diabetes UK.

What we are doing in the North West:

  •  Organise conferences for healthcare professionals and awareness days for people with diabetes, their carers, families and friends.
  • Work with the NHS to promote the continual improvement in services for all people with diabetes.
  • Develop projects on diabetes in ethnic minority communities and making available leaflets, audio and video tapes in five Asian languages and Cantonese.
  • Run training programmes to help lay representatives engage effectively with healthcare professionals to help take diabetes agendas forward.
  • Campaign for improvements in healthcare for people with diabetes and supporting the Diabetes Campaigners Network and its members.
  • Offer youngsters with diabetes the chance to attend a Diabetes UK holiday.
  • Raise vital funds to enable Diabetes UK to continue work in areas such as research and care.
  • Work with other voluntary organisations to encourage people with diabetes to have their say.
