South West Professional Conference 2008

The theme for this year's South West Professional Conference was "How do you build the best possible future for your patients with diabetes?"

Starting with making an early diagnosis and how to help the patient adapt to the diagnosis, the conference explored through talks and workshops some of the building blocks for better outcomes. These included:

  • strategies for managing the different needs of a patient on their journey with diabetes
    how to motivate patients to make changes
  • managing chronic kidney disease
  • foot care
  • new treatments.

The conference finished by looking at the future that research might offer by a talk by Prof Andrew Hattersley.

  • Managing CKD in Primary Care - Karen Marchant
