Celebrating Volunteering

A huge hello and fond farewell from Emily.

Firstly, a huge and very warm welcome to Tam who has joined Diabetes UK as the Volunteer Development Support Officer.  Tammy will be out and about on the road with me over the next few weeks, meeting you at roadshows and various other events, learning the ropes in order to support you all in your volunteer roles.  I am sure you will all join me in welcoming Tam to the team.

After what have been a super four years with Diabetes UK  I am saying my goodbyes.  I have met some marvellous volunteers and had a lot of fun, so thank you all for making my time with Diabetes UK a good one. I leave with some very fond memories of roadshows, voluntary group meetings, conferences and even a cuddly toy from a trip to the zoo.  My last day will be Friday 9th August and I leave you in the very capable hands of Tam and the rest of the team.

I have seen first hand how dedicated you all are to supporting people living with diabetes, campaigning for change and raising awareness.  You have been an absolute inspiration and it has been a pleasure to have worked with each and every one of you.  Keep up the fantastic volunteering!

Volunteer with Diabetes UK South West

and help make a difference to the lives of 3 million people living with diabetes.

Our 10,000+ volunteers are at the heart of Diabetes UK. Without this support, Diabetes UK could not carry out its vital work in research, education and care.

Our volunteers bring skills, experience, energy, enthusiasm and commitment to Diabetes UK. And volunteering can make a difference in your life too, letting you meet new people, learn new skills and have fun.

You can find out about all of our voluntary activities in our main Volunteering section, or if you would like further details, please contact the Volunteer Development team on 01823 448 260 or email south.west@diabetes.org.uk.

Volunteering in your region

You might also be interested in volunteering on a local level by supporting your regional office. The South West regional office holds many fundraising and awareness events and we are always looking for people to help and support our work. If you would like to make a difference and get involved then contact us to find out more.
