Further Volunteering Opportunities

Diabetes Involvement Network

The Involvement Network is one of the ways that Diabetes UK makes sure that people living with diabetes are involved in the decisions we make.  You could be helping us to decide what the important issues are to tell politicians, or reviewing our publications to make sure they are relevant to you, or helping us to prioritise our work.  For more information on the Network, visit the Diabetes UK Involvement Network page.

Media Volunteer

If you have diabetes, or someone close to you has diabetes, why not become a media volunteer?  Journalists are often looking for people to talk to about their experiences of diabetes, and to give a human angle to the story.  If you are under 18, your parents will need to consent to you being a media volunteer.  If you are interested, contact the Diabetes UK South West, Regional Media Officer on 01823 448260 or email south,west@diabetes.org.uk.

Adult Voluntary GroupVoluntary Group Involvement

We are in the process of helping to set up a Voluntary Support Group in the South Bristol area and a Voluntary Group for Young Adults with Type 1 Diabetes in the Bournemouth area.  Would you like to help with either of these exciting new ventures?

Voluntary Groups need a variety of skills, including committee work, publicity and awareness raising, fund-raising, booking speakers, finding venues and providing refreshments.  If you would like to be involved, or to find out if there is a group near you, then contact the South West Volunteering Team and we will put you in touch with the nearest group to you, or go to the Voluntary Groups listing on our website.
