The role of Diabetes UK's regional offices is to influence healthcare provision and improve services for people with diabetes at a local level, together with raising awareness and funds for diabetes and Diabetes UK.
What we are doing in the West Midlands:
- Working with African Caribbean healthcare professionals to produce a culturally receptive diabetes awareness video for the African Caribbean community.
- Running a series of public consultation meetings in conjunction with diabetes healthcare professional teams and health organisations across the region.
- Organising conferences for healthcare professionals and awareness days for people with diabetes, their carers, families and friends.
- Working with Primary Care Trusts in helping to develop and implement the Department of Health Expert Patient Initiative.
- Raising vital funds to improve the lives of people with diabetes and work towards a future without diabetes. There are many ways you can support Diabetes UK and we have fun at the same time. Go to our events page to see how you can get involved.
- Promoting patient education through the distribution of patient information packs to people with diabetes from all communities.
