Locality Profile

To find your locality profile you can do any of the following:

  1. Enter your complete postcode
  2. Click on the drop down box and select either your nation or region and then from the following page select your primary care organisation
  3. Click your nation or region on the map and then from the following page select your primary care organisation
  4. Use the ‘Locality profile’ button on the left side of the page

If using option 4:
You have two options either select your area of interest or data of interest. 

Click - Select your area of interest

From the drop down menu, select area type.  For example, if your locality is in England, then select Health area England. Click next

Now you need to select your health area – this is your locality (or primary care organisation).  Select the locality and click next.

The next step is to select a theme from the drop down menu – then click next

Then choose the relevant locality profile (InfoBank will automatically select the correct profile) and click next

If you want to compare your locality’s information to other regions or nations then make your selection here under the heading ‘value’.  You can also select to see the ‘difference’ – this will tell you if your locality is the same as, higher or lower than the other comparison areas.  Then create your profile and you will now see your Locality profile.

Maps and Charts

To see the maps and charts, you will need to download SGV viewer onto your computer.  This is free software that is available on the internet from: (http://www.adobe.com/svg/viewer/install/main.html).

You can view information by topic through the maps and charts in two ways:

First option

From the home page click on any of the themes listed on the right hand side under the heading ‘Detailed maps and charts’.

Second option

One the left side of the home page, select ‘maps and charts’
From here a wizard will guide you through a series of steps to create the maps and charts that you would like to see.

Step 1 – click ‘Start selecting your maps and charts’
Step 2 – select – Health Area UK from the menu to see data from all four nations
Step 3- select your theme from the drop down menus
Step 4- you have two options in which to view the data, select the option under Maps and Charts and if you have loaded SGV viewer, you will see the interactive maps and charts
Step 5 – the other option is to view the information as a table.  Click ‘table view’ and InfoBank will produce a table of the information.

Data Explorer

If you would like to search for information on a topic you are interested in, for example, emotional support, you can use this search tool.  You can select a keyword from a drop down list and InfoBank will provide a list of indicators that relate to this topic and the supporting metadata.

The metadata provides information on the data shown in InfoBank.  Fore example, it will provide information on the:

Advanced Tables

This option allows you to customise a table.  Click ‘start creating your advanced tables’ to begin.

Step 2 – select area type.  To begin you will need to select the Health Area – this could be either: Health Area England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales or UK depending on your interest and click ‘next’.

Step 3 – select area.  Here you can select either one or several of the local areas for your table by highlighting the areas and click ‘next’.

Step 4 – select indicators.  First you will need to select the theme of interest (eg emotional support), and all the associated indicators will be dropped into the box below.  From here, you can select just the indicators (eg percentage of people who received emotional support) you wish to present in your table and click ‘add selected’ or ‘add all’ if you would like to see them all. Your selection will appear in the box below, and click ‘next’.

Step 5 – comparison areas.  If you would like to see the comparison value between your local areas and a region or nation, tick the box next to the region or nation and click ‘create table’.

InfoBank will now create your table which you can export to excel.  If you would like to see the data as a chart – then click in the white circle below the indicator name in the table.  Then click ‘chart’.
