Getting a drop of blood can be difficult from a toddler and putting a drop of blood on a testing strip can be fiddly. Try to get your child to cooperate as much as possible by explaining what you are going to do and reassuring them that even though it might hurt, it will be over very quickly. Try pricking teddy’s finger or pricking your own, and encourage your child to help if they want to. If you find it difficult, talk to your paediatric diabetes team who will be able to give you some tips.
