Eating the right foods should be seen as part of their treatment like taking insulin, testing blood glucose and being active. But what exactly is a healthy, balanced diet? This section aims to provide information on what constitutes healthy eating.

Diagnosis

You and your child should meet with a dietitian either at diagnosis or soon after, and when they attend diabetes clinic to discuss different aspects of their dietary treatment throughout their life. The aim is to promote a positive relationship with food, while providing all the nutrients your growing child needs.
