Prime Minister, Tony Blair: "I was pleased to learn that you will soon be launching an awareness campaign to highlight that obesity is a risk factor when it comes to Type 2 diabetes.
"The Government values the dedication and application of Diabetes UK in addressing diabetes issues. I wish you a successful awareness campaign."

Brian Cox:
"Please take note of the Measure Up message - get a tape measure and measure your waist.
"Ask your mum or dad if diabetes runs in the family.
"And if you think you may be at risk of diabetes – get a test. It’s really simple.
"And while no-one wants to have diabetes, knowledge really is power where your health is concerned. So get the knowledge and use the power to fight diabetes."
Mike Rutherford: "The Measure Up campaign is a great idea because for so many people in the UK the thought that they might be diabetic has not even entered their heads.
"This project will hopefully make them ask that question, and as we know, early diagnosis makes this condition so much easier to treat, so I thoroughly support the Measure Up campaign to raise awareness."

DJ Big Ted: "I’ve been a diabetic myself for five years now. If I knew the information from Diabetes UK before, it would have definitely helped.
"This is a message absolutely everybody should hear. I fully support the 'Measure Up' campaign and everything Diabetes UK are doing to let people know what the danger signs are, and what they can do to help themselves or others who may be at risk."
Simon Biagi: "I'm diabetic and it's never stopped me doing anything! But diabetes is perhaps the greatest hidden illness of the 21st century, with over 750,000 people not realising they have the condition.
"Measure up is a new way which helps to see if you or yours might be likely to get diabetes. This is such a useful tool as early diagnosis and an effective treatment program means you can get on with your life and enjoy full health, without storing up problems for later on.
"I have been involved with Diabetes UK for over 20 years and I have to say this campaign will change the way we view diabetes and I think it is great. Have a think about you and your family and take a few measurements...it's dead simple! If you have any concerns get a test and get on with life!"
